Why ceramic over wax

Wax wears off in weeks. Ceramic bonds into the surface as a hard, hydrophobic layer — more gloss, less cleaning, years of protection.

  • Hard glass-like layer bonds to paint or gelcoat
  • Hydrophobic — water beads and sheets off, less drying time
  • UV and salt-spray resistance for South Florida sun
  • Easier washes; dirt and salt release instead of etching in
  • Deep, wet-look gloss that lasts for years, not months
  • Resists light swirls, waterline staining and bird etching

The application process

No shortcuts — the coating only lasts if the prep is right. Here's how we do it.

  1. 1

    Inspect and decontaminate

We check the paint or gelcoat for depth and damage, then clay-bar and iron-strip to pull embedded contaminants so the surface is perfectly clean.

  2. 2

    Machine paint correction

Multi-stage compounding and polishing removes swirls, oxidation and light scratches. The coating locks in this finish, so this step is everything.

  3. 3

    Panel-by-panel wipe down

An isopropyl prep wipe removes every trace of polish and oil so the coating bonds directly to the clear coat or gelcoat.

  4. 4

    Coat and level

We apply the ceramic coating one panel at a time, leveling it thin and even for a uniform, streak-free layer.

  5. 5

    Cure and care brief

The coating needs a short cure before water contact. We walk you through the simple wash routine and what to avoid so it holds up for years.

Ceramic coating questions

How long does a ceramic coating last?

A professionally applied marine or automotive ceramic coating typically holds up 2 to 5 years depending on the product, prep and how the boat or vehicle is stored and washed. We only coat properly corrected, contaminant-free paint or gelcoat so the bond lasts.

Is ceramic coating better than wax?

Wax sits on the surface and wears off in a few months. Ceramic coating bonds into the paint or gelcoat as a hard glass-like layer — more gloss, better UV and salt resistance, easier washes, and years of protection instead of weeks. Wax is the budget option; coating is the upgrade.

Can you ceramic coat a boat that stays in the water?

Yes. For boats kept wet we use marine ceramic formulations rated for continuous water contact and below-waterline-friendly prep. The coating shrugs off salt, scum and waterline staining so hull cleaning gets much easier.

Does my boat or car need paint correction first?

Almost always. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so swirls, oxidation and stains get sealed in. We machine-compound and polish the surface to a clean, flat finish first, then apply the coating — that's what gives the deep wet-look gloss.

How do I care for a ceramic-coated surface?

Wash with a pH-neutral, coating-safe soap and a soft mitt — no harsh degreasers or brushless car washes. We walk you through the simple routine and tell you what voids the coating, and we offer maintenance top-ups to keep the hydrophobic bead sharp.
